SWACO Presents The Business Roundtable

Business Roundtable

SWACO presents The Business Roundtable. This quarterly networking luncheon of local leaders from businesses, non-profits, and government agencies is designed to share the best in green practices in Central Ohio. “Many companies and organizations have made great progress on the path toward green while others are just getting underway,” says program manager Bonni Trice. “But what we have found is that everyone has ideas to share and the desire to learn how others have succeeded. SWACO’s Business Roundtable is designed to foster that sharing of ideas.”

Local businesses with 100 employees or more are invited to join SWACO’s Business Roundtable. Many times the “hosts” for the meeting display their green building or detail the businesses or organization’s waste diversion or recycling successes. SWACO staff also updates the members on new and existing programs that can help lessen environmental footprints. Experts from other fields have recently discussed topics that include; green/alternate fuels, energy credits, pending federal legislation, and cost effective recycling and waste diversion programs.

Trice continues, “We all need a little encouragement to change our behavior. For many following the green path can be a big change from normal practices. Success on the part of colleagues shows others that with a little extra effort the switch to green can be accomplished.”

SWACO’s Business Roundtable meets quarterly at varying locations. “It’s like a field trip,” says Trice. “Businesses can learn firsthand from those who are anxious to show their green accomplishments.” At recent Business Roundtable meetings attendees have heard about the green efforts of Columbus State, COTA, Limited Brands, White Castle, and others.
