2016 Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Collection Events

HHW materials are unsafe and should not be put in the trash and sent to the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill. Instead, SWACO has scheduled four easy and convenient community drop-off events for these materials. Additionally, SWACO provides free HHW disposal services year-round at a permanent drop-off location at 645 E. 8th Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43201. Read More »

New Sponsorship Program to Increase Recycling at Central Ohio’s Events and Festivals

The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) is launching a new Event Sponsorship Program, a pilot for 2016 for which a total of $25,000 will be provided to local public event organizers to help them with establishing easy-to-do best practices for reducing waste, increasing recycling and composting, and generating public awareness about waste reduction activities. The program is open to all public events throughout the county. The level of financial support will be determined based on proposed activities that address the application criteria and the estimated attendance for each event. Funding ranges between $500 and $5,000 for a single event. Read More »
